The inaugural flight from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) touched down at Douglas-Charles Airport on Saturday, February 15, further strengthening Dominica’s global accessibility.
The new service is expected to boost visitor arrivals, support the island’s tourism industry and complement ongoing infrastructure investments, including the highly anticipated International Airport Project.
Dominica’s Minister for Tourism, alongside government officials and industry stakeholders, welcomed the United Airlines crew and passengers with a special arrival ceremony.

Minister for Tourism, Hon. Denise Charles-Pemberton
“This flight is not just about adding another route. It is about transformation. It is about breaking barriers, opening doors, and unlocking new possibilities for tourism, business, and personal travel.
“With this new direct flight from Newark, a major international hub, Dominica is now more connected to the world than ever before. This means more visitors filling our hotels, eating in our restaurants, exploring our rainforests, diving into our waters, and experiencing the warm hospitality that makes Dominica, unique,” Hon. Charles-Pemberton said.
The weekly flights from Newark will operate every Saturday, offering travelers a convenient and efficient option to visit Dominica. The service also provides Dominicans abroad with easier access to their homeland.

Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the new service will result in a number of benefits for Dominica.
“Today is indeed a moment of celebration, an opportunity for us to create more jobs in the economy, the opportunity for us to have more foreign exchange coming into our country and for us to be able to better take care of ourselves as a country,” the Prime Minister stated.
“We are truly grateful for the confidence which United has placed in our country Dominica and it is no doubt a source of encouragement for us to do even more as we seek to achieve our development goals and aspirations,” he said. “This is a day that all of us in Dominica should celebrate and welcome.”

Senior Manager, United Airlines, Tom Kozlowski
United Airlines Senior Manager Tom Kozlowski said the company was excited to add Dominica as the 24th destination to its international route network.
“We are excited to connect this beautiful island with our gateway in Newark. I am really appreciative of the close partnership we have with the Discover Dominica Authority. We look forward to this partnership, we look forward to having really successful service and also to being one of the first in the new airport when it opens,” he said.
