Renovation Works at DSC Underway, Classes Resume this Month

Renovation works at the Dominica State College are ongoing ahead of the resumption of face-to-face classes this month.
Education Minister, Hon. Octavia toured the facility on Friday to assess its readiness for the February 27 start.
“Work is progressing satisfactorily at the Dominica State College. Although we had a little setback with sourcing some materials for the ceiling, this has been resolved, and we will be ready for face-to-face instructions after carnival.
“Generally, there’s a lot to do at the Dominica State College to take it back to its primary status, but we’ll continue to do the work in phases,” Alfred said.
The Dominica State College extension, completed in 2013 with funding from the People’s Republic of China, was extensively damaged during the passage of Hurricane Maria.
Mrs. Alfred said the Government of Dominica remains committed to the creation of a conducive learning environment for teaching and learning.
“This is our only national tertiary institution and the Government of Dominica is committed to ensuring that this institution continues to thrive. Presently, we have more than 1,700 students enrolled in the college, and so we have a commitment to these students,” she stated.
