PM Skerrit Welcomes Spain’s Ambassador to Dominica
Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, today received His Excellency José María Fernández López de Turiso, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary-designate of Spain to the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Prime Minister Skerrit warmly welcomed Ambassador Fernández López de Turiso, and expressed appreciation for Spain’s long-standing partnership with Dominica dating back to the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1980. He underscored Dominica’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas of tourism, education and trade facilitation.
Ambassador Fernández López de Turiso conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Felipe VI and the Government of Spain. He reaffirmed Spain’s role as a trusted bilateral partner, pledging support for Dominica’s development priorities. The Ambassador noted Spain’s keen interest in deepening collaboration with Dominica, especially in education and tourism.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism for enhanced cooperation and mutual engagement at upcoming regional and international fora.
