Philbert Aaron Named Dominica’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations
Dr. Philbert Aaron, Dominica’s former Ambassador to Venezuela, will be the country’s new Permanent Representative at the United Nations.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced the appointment during a national address on Monday to reveal the composition of his new cabinet, following general elections held on December 6.
Dr. Aaron brings a wealth of experience to the post. Trained in leadership development & policy, he served for a decade in the Office of the Prime Minister blending his expertise in education, political diplomacy, public relations and leadership.
As Ambassador to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela from 2009 – 2018, he served as the Prime Minister’s Head of Mission to Caracas and managed over $200M in projects spanning the health, education, and energy sectors. He was also the National Coordinator of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our Americas and the Founding National Coordinator of ALBA, an inter-governmental bloc of countries from Latin America and the Caribbean led by Venezuela.
During his stint as the Public Relations Officer of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), Dr. Aaron was credited for devising data-driven PR strategies based on political and policy analysis and promoting the DLP’s commitment to social justice.
He is currently the Principal of Thriver Consulting based in Nashville, Tennessee, which specializes in policy, education and diplomacy and offers solutions to improve organizational performance.
