Olympic Gold Medalist Thea LaFond-Gadson to receive Dominica’s Highest National Honour, Diplomatic Appointment, Cash Award
Olympic Champion Thea LaFond-Gadson will receive Dominica’s highest national award, the Dominica Award of Honour, during this year’s independence celebrations.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit made the announcement at a celebration event held in Lafond-Gadson’s honour on Sunday, following her historic Gold Medal win in the Triple Jump at the Paris Olympics 2024.
LaFond-Gadson will also receive a cash gift of $400,000.00; a 7,459 square-feet lot in Warner; and she will be appointed Sports Ambassador for Dominica. The Olympic Champion and her husband and coach Aaron Gadson will receive diplomatic passports.
The Government of Dominica will proceed with the construction of a synthetic track facility to be named the Thea LaFond-Gadson Track & Field Complex upon completion.
Prime Minister Skerrit also announced that 2024 Olympians Dennick Luke, Warren Lawrence and Jasmine Schofield will each be awarded $20, 000.00.
