Missi Henderson to Serve as Dominica’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister Missi Henderson will be appointed to the position of High Commissioner to the United Kingdom with additional responsibility for Diplomacy, Trade, Investment and Diaspora Relations in other European countries.
Missi Henderson has, since 2020, served as Permanent Secretary with responsibility for policy formulation and implementation, budget preparation and management and the implementation of the International Airport Project.
She was Public Affairs Coordinator and Personal Aide to Prime Minister Skerrit from 2015.
Henderson got her start as an accounts clerk with Cable Wireless Dominica Limited and was later the Financial Accounting Officer, honing her skills and knowledge in financial planning, budget control and project management. She joined Cable and Wireless West Indies Limited as Regional Financial Systems Support Analyst in 2000.
From 2003 to 2017, Henderson continued her career in financial management as Accounting Technician, Administrator-Finance and Investment, and Chief Financial Officer at the Dominica Social Security. As CFO, she directed the accounting and financial functions of the Fund and was responsible for budget planning and control, risk assessment and management, as well as the administration of the Investment Portfolio of the National Insurance Programme.
Henderson was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Caribbean Home Mortgage Bank, based in St. Kitts and Nevis, from 2014-2020.
She holds a Masters of Finance from the University of London and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. She is an Accredited Director (AccDir) with the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada.
