Mas Domnik 2025 has firmly established Dominica’s carnival as the most authentic in the Caribbean, drawing increased visitor numbers and delivering a significant boost to the local economy, according to Tourism Minister Hon. Denise Charles-Pemberton.
She noted that the festival exceeded expectations, with a 34% increase in visitor arrivals compared to 2024 and an estimated $25 million injected into the Dominican economy.
Mas Domnik 2025 officially kicked off on Saturday, January 18, and culminated with vibrant street parades on Monday, March 3, and Tuesday, March 4, through the streets of Roseau. A series of exciting fringe events took place in between, offering entertainment for both residents and visitors alike.
“This was a big win for local businesses, artists and the entire tourism sector,” said Hon. Charles-Pemberton. “But the real star of Mas Domnik 2025 was Bouyon. Our artists are making waves both regionally and globally.”
The streets of Dominica came alive with vibrant costume bands, creativity and energy, with stunning carnival images flooding social media over the two days. “We have cemented our place as the most authentic carnival in the Caribbean. You should be proud,” she emphasized.
The government’s $1.2 million investment in Mas Domnik 2025 played a crucial role in backing local artists, designers and event organizers. “This investment prepared our entrepreneurs and drove tourism, boosting business for the hospitality, entertainment and transport sectors,” the Tourism Minister noted.
Hon. Charles- Pemberton commended the work of key festival organizers, including CEO of Discover Dominica Authority Marva Williams and Festivals Manager Ayodele Andrew, for making this year’s event “unforgettable.”
Sponsors, airline and ferry partners, as well as Dominica’s police force were also recognized for their contributions.
“Dominica is trending, and it’s no accident,” the Minister said, crediting influencers and content creators for amplifying the festival worldwide. “Let’s keep the momentum going and make Carnival 2026 even bigger,” urged Hon. Charles-Pemberton.
With momentum high, Dominicans are already looking forward to upcoming cultural events, including Jazz and Creole on May 4 in Portsmouth and the 25th edition of the World Creole Music Festival.
